In honor of her 107th birthday, Brookdale West Seattle hosted a special celebration for resident Rosa Facciuto. The event featured live music, family, neighbors, friends, birthday cake, and some surprise guests.

One of the surprises was a special performance by C.C. Engel, a local musician who performed at Rosa’s past three birthday parties. She performed several of Rosa’s favorite songs, including “Sweet Caroline,’ “Moonglow,” and “Hey Good Lookin’” by Hank Williams.

Born in Seattle in 1918, Rosa worked as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines, served as a secretary at the Seattle Police Department, and worked at Northern Commercial Co. (NCC). She also served her community as a dedicated volunteer at a senior center thrift shop and at Providence Hospital. She attributes her longevity to staying active and having a lot of friends. These days, she enjoys music, poetry, playing games, and going on outings.

Her best advice for others? ” Don’t sit at home and mope, get out and keep active. If you don’t have a job, volunteer,” she said. “Don’t abuse yourself either, you’ve got to take care of your body. And choose your friends well. You’ll be alright if you run around with the right people.”

She expressed her gratitude to everyone who showed up to make her day so special. “I love everybody here and I’ll never regret that I’ve been here this long,” she said.

Happy Birthday, Rosa!
